Course Aim:

This course is designed to prepare learners for the IELTS Academic and General Training Reading and Writing modules. The goal is to improve the ability to understand complex texts, answer various question types accurately, and produce well-structured, coherent writing appropriate for the exam. The course focuses on test techniques, language development, and task practice to help students achieve their desired band scores.

📖 Reading Module – Course Content

  • Understanding the format of the IELTS Reading test (Academic and General)

  • Practicing all question types:

    • True/False/Not Given

    • Yes/No/Not Given

    • Matching headings

    • Matching information

    • Multiple choice

    • Sentence completion

    • Summary/note/table/diagram completion

  • Building skimming, scanning, and intensive reading skills

  • Expanding academic and general vocabulary

  • Identifying paraphrasing and distractors

  • Managing time and improving reading speed and accuracy

🔹 Skills Practiced:

  • Identifying main ideas and supporting details

  • Making inferences and identifying the writer’s opinions

  • Understanding the logic and organization of texts

  • Reading under time pressure with confidence

✍️ Writing Module – Course Content

🔹 Focus Areas:

  • Understanding the structure and assessment criteria of Writing Task 1 and Task 2 (Academic and General)

  • Writing clear, well-organized responses within the time limit

  • Academic Module:

    • Task 1: Describing charts, graphs, tables, maps, and processes

    • Task 2: Writing formal essays (opinion, discussion, problem-solution, etc.)

  • General Module:

    • Task 1: Writing letters (formal, semi-formal, informal)

    • Task 2: Writing general opinion or argument essays

  • Developing coherence and cohesion with linking devices

  • Expanding vocabulary and using a range of grammatical structures

  • Practicing planning, drafting, and editing writing under exam conditions
